Vertical Liquid Receiver

The vertical liquid receiver stores liquid refrigerant and absorbs the change in charge that occurs as load and ambient conditions vary. It is the standard arrangement where there is height available: the vessel stands upright, liquid leaves from the bottom connection and the level can be seen through the optional sight glass.

Nine sizes run from 0.5 HP to 14 HP, with volumes from 1 L to 14 L. Inlet and outlet are 3/8 inch up to 3 HP, 1/2 inch from 5 to 10 HP and 5/8 inch from 12 to 14 HP, matching the line sizes used on the corresponding condensing units. Body dimensions run from 177 x 97 mm to 380 x 219 mm and the matching cut-off valves are V01, V06 and V09 according to connection size.

The body is steel with a corrosion resistant epoxy powder coating and a maximum working pressure of 35 bar. The inlet and outlet positions can be customised, so the receiver can be ordered to suit a specific pipe layout rather than forcing the pipework to adapt.

Volume is nominal, so selection is based on the system charge plus the difference in charge between summer and winter operation - typically the charge that has to be stored when the condenser is cold and the system is shut down. A receiver that is too small will leave the condenser flooded and raise the discharge pressure; one that is too large simply holds more charge.

Install vertically and level, with the outlet at the bottom and the sight glass where the level can be read during operation. Fit the cut-off valve so the receiver can be isolated for service.
