Condensate Pump PC12B PC36B

The PC-12B and PC-36B are the compact condensate pumps in the range - small enough to fit inside a ducted unit or beside a cassette, with a 35 ml tank and a suction lift of up to 2 m, which means the pump can sit below the drain tray rather than having to be level with it.

Flow rates are 12 L/h and 36 L/h with a maximum discharge head of 10 m (33 ft). In practice the 12 L/h version suits mini splits up to 8 kW (30,000 Btu/h) and the 36 L/h version up to 15 kW (45,000 Btu/h). Sound levels are 19 and 21 dB(A), and power consumption is 3 W - low enough that the pump can run continuously while the unit is in cooling without appearing on the electricity bill.

Supply is 100 to 230 V at 50/60 Hz, so the same pump works on any single-phase supply in the markets these units are sold into, and the ambient rating is 0 to 50 C.

The design detail that matters is the small tank: it keeps the pump short, which is what allows installation inside a shallow duct or a ceiling void where a tank-type pump will not go. The trade-off is more frequent cycling, which is why the noise figure matters - at 19 dB(A) it is quieter than the room it serves.

Installation: mount the pump level and as close to the drain as possible, keep the suction line short and continuously rising to the pump, and run the discharge to a point with a fall or a free outlet - never into a sealed line. Test the overflow safety switch at commissioning by filling the tank by hand and confirming the cooling stops before the tray overflows.
