CV CHECK VALVE

The CV series is a brass check valve for refrigerant lines in two body styles. CV-6 to CV-19 are direct flow: the body sits in line with the pipe, so the valve fits wherever the line runs straight. CVR-22 to CVR-42 are right angle: inlet and outlet are at 90 degrees, which lets the valve be fitted in a corner and saves two elbows.

Connections are flare SAE from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch or weld ODF from 1/4 inch to 1-5/8 inch, and the internal diameter runs from 4.8 mm to 31 mm. Kv values span 0.56 to 30.0 m3/h, covering everything from a small liquid line up to a 1-5/8 inch discharge line.

The valve is used wherever flow must not reverse: discharge lines on multi-compressor racks, liquid lines on pump-down circuits, the outlet of a receiver, and the bypass line of a hot gas defrost arrangement. The right angle version is particularly useful on packaged units where the pipework turns immediately after a component.

Selection is by line size and by the pressure drop that can be tolerated. A check valve adds resistance in the normal flow direction, and on a suction or discharge line that loss shows up directly as lost capacity, so the largest body that fits the pipe is usually preferred over a small one.

Installation: respect the flow arrow, keep the seat away from any source of braze scale, and where possible fit the valve so gravity assists closing - horizontal with the cap up is the usual position. A check valve is not an isolation device: it is not designed to seal against a pressure test or to hold a charge while a component is replaced.
