Door Hinge

Cold room door hinges carry more load than a domestic hinge, because a cold room door is thick, insulated, heavy and often opened against a pressure difference. A hinge that looks adequate on paper will sag within a year, and a sagging door then drags on the seal, breaks the gasket line and lets warm air in.

The range covers fifteen models in three mounting styles. HS-1460 and HS-1470 series are the adjustable hinges: a slotted plate allows the door to be set up or down after installation and re-adjusted if the door settles, with installation heights from 32 to 90 mm and load capacity from 0.75 to 1.6 kg per hinge. HS-1132 and HS-1132S are the reversible cam-lift type, used where the door has to be lifted clear of the frame as it opens. HS-1138, HS-1140, HS-1191, HS-1192, HS-1158 and HS-1128 cover the remaining patterns, including smaller cam-lift and reach-in hinges.

Materials are matched to the application: high pressure die-cast zinc for general internal use, stainless steel where the room is washed down or the environment is corrosive, and high density ABS for light door leaves where weight matters.

Selection is by three things: the weight of the door leaf per hinge, the thickness of the door and frame (the installation height range), and whether a lift or cam action is required. A typical cold room door uses two or three hinges of the same model, and mixing models on one door is the usual cause of a door that does not hang square.

Fit with the door supported while the fixings are tightened, and check the swing before final tightening - most hinge problems are installation problems, not product faults.
